To better valorise fishery products, SOMASCIR has carried out the reconstruction, renovation and modernisation of its cold-storage facilities. Works began more than 20 months ago and are now fully operational, with facilities that include :
- A machine room fitted with new-generation SABROE compressors
- A negative cold room (-25°C), 1,500 tonnes total capacity
- Two positive cold rooms (0°C), 100 tonnes total capacity
- A chilled pool for receiving fresh products, 7-tonne capacity
- Air-blast freezing tunnels (-40°C), 120 tonnes/day capacity
- Two flake-ice plants, 30 tonnes/day production capacity
- An ice storage silo, 60-tonne capacity
- A processing hall with automated fish conveying equipment
- A fish preparation and filleting room
- SCADA software for remote management of all facilities
The products processed by this cold-storage complex are mainly small pelagics (horse mackerel, mackerel, sardinella, etc.) for valorisation, HGT, and other demersal species for processing and IQF filleting.
